St. John's finished off a three-game weekend series sweep with a 9-0 win Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. The game finished in five innings.
With the result, Butler is now 17-23 on the season and 5-6 in BIG EAST play. The league-leading Red Storm improve to 22-13 overall and 10-2 in conference play.
St. John's put up all nine runs in the first two innings, highlighted by a two-run Christina Melendez home run in the first inning and a three-run triple from Marissa Rizzi in the second frame.
McKenzie Murray pitched the shutout, surrendering only three hits and three walks to the Bulldogs. She is now 7-1 on the season, picking up the win after registering the save in the first two games of the series Saturday.

Ashley Post had the hits for the Bulldogs. For Post, it was her first career hit.
Kaitlin Doud,
Gabbi Schnaiter and
Mikeila Boroff all saw time in the circle for the Bulldogs. Doud took the loss. Boroff pitched three scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and one walk.
Butler returns to action Wednesday with a single game at Illinois. That contest is set for a 6 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. in Champaign, Ill./Central) first pitch. The Bulldogs' next BIG EAST action is a weekend series at Creighton.
