WESTFIELD, Ind. – The nationally-ranked Denver Pioneers recorded a 20-3 victory against the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 5. The contest was moved to Grand Park due to weather conditions in the Indianapolis area. The indoor facility held the action that featured BU goals from
Sydney Pattison,
Emily Annand and
Rachel Kegler.
#13 Denver moved to 9-2 on the year with a 3-1 mark against conference foes. With the loss, Butler moves to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in conference.
Denver scored the first 16 goals of the game on their way to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Emily Annand broke up the scoring streak with her third goal of the season and BU would add two more goals late in the action to bring us to the 20-3 grand total. Pattison scored off a nice feed from
Journey Fischbeck and Kegler would score the final goal of the day off a free position shot with under a minute to play.
Denver was led to victory by Kendra Lanuza who posted four goals and two assists. Scoring was spread out between 13 different student-athletes.
Each team used multiple goalies in the conference matchup. Maddy Stevenson made one save for the Pioneers and ended up with the win. The loss was handed to
Allie Storke who earned the start in goal for BU. Storke made two saves in 20 minutes of action.
Haley Rayburn came in for the remainder of the game and made four stops.
The Bulldogs will return to action this weekend with a 1 PM match at UConn on Saturday, April 8.
