INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs won the weekend, but lost the final game of the series to Villanova by a final score of 5-1. Butler had one more hit than Villanova, but another strong outing by the Nova starter led the Wildcats to victory.
Tyler Houston,
Jordan Lucio and
Chris Maranto all came up with two hits in the BU box score on Sunday afternoon with Houston being responsible for the team's lone RBI. Villanova took an early 1-0 lead in the first with a sac fly to left field, but the Bulldogs got out of major trouble in the inning which featured the bases loaded with no outs.
The game moved along to 3-0 in favor of Villanova in the third inning after two RBI singles from the visitors. Houston would break up the shutout in the third with an RBI double down the leftfield line.

Villanova scored off a wild pitch in the sixth inning and the final run of the game would come home in the top of the ninth off an RBI single from Lilly to left field.
Butler used five arms on the day with
Kevin Napoleon getting his first-ever start at the collegiate level. The freshman tossed 2.1 innings before being replaced on the mound by
Brock Balderson. Balderson got one out and handed the ball off to
Josh Walker who did the heavy lifting for BU in the middle stages of the game. Walker tossed three full innings and would hand the ball off to
Chris Myjak. The big right-hander tossed 2.1 and
River Pitlock would enter the game for the ninth.
Butler will play their final non-conference game of the season this coming Wednesday at Purdue. The weekend will feature a road series at Georgetown.
