INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs kicked off the 2017 season with a 3-0 win over Stony Brook (25-14, 25-23, 25-16). Butler hit .404 in the match and had three student-athletes reach a double figure kill total.
Brooke Gregory came up with a match-high 14 kills to help lead BU to victory. Gregory reached 14 kills on just 24 swings to post a .500 attack percentage.
Whitney Beck was second on the team with 13 kills. The outside hitter notched a double-double by adding 11 digs.

Makayla Ferguson just missed a double-double with eight digs and a match-high 36 assists.
The Bulldogs controlled action at the net with 10 team blocks. Freshman
Rachel Klitzing had a stellar collegiate debut with a team-high six blocks to go along with five kills. Fellow freshman
Natalie Ravenell made her presence felt on the court with 11 kills on just 20 attempts.
Butler raced out to an early 1-0 lead by dominating the opening set 25-14. The second set was easily the most competitive between the two with Butler coming back to record a 25-23 victory. The game came together at 16-16, but Stony Brook would go on a 5-1 run to grab a 21-17 advantage. BU would knot the score at 21-21 and go on to win by two. The third set was never in question with Butler leading from start to finish.
