CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Bulldogs moved to 1-1 in BIG EAST Conference action with a 3-1 victory at Xavier on Saturday afternoon. (25-18, 25-27, 25-17, 25-18). Freshman
Rachel Klitzing erupted for a career-high 15 kills.
Klitzing paced the offensive attack with 15 kills on just 21 attempts. She only committed one error to post a .667 attack percentage. Defensively she led the team with a match-high six blocks.
The Bulldogs used a balanced attack to defeat the Musketeers.
Anna Logan came up with 10 kills,
Natalie Ravenell and
Bri Lilly were each in the box score with nine, and the duo of
Brooke Gregory and Whitney beck combined for 16 with each student-athlete collecting eight.
Makayla Ferguson helped Butler post a .283 team attack percentage. She just missed a double-double with 49 assists and nine digs. Ravenell was also close to a double-double performance by adding 15 digs to her nine kills. The lone double-double came from Logan who added 14 digs to her 10 kills.
Butler returns to action on Wednesday night with a home game against DePaul. Opening serve is scheduled for 7 PM.
