Butler posted an impressive 7-0 decision over Marian Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. The home match for the Bulldogs included a doubles point sweet and three straight-set singles wins.
Freshmen
Emily Neal and
Lauren Marx held down the top two singles spots. Neal won in straight sets, while Marx was one of three Bulldogs who needed a third-set match tiebreaker.
Jordan Minnick and
Caroline McAuley won in straight sets at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively, while
Nina Bertino (No. 3) and freshman
Natale Corrigan (No. 5) joined Marx in utilizing the third-set match tiebreaker.
All six players combined on lopsided doubles wins to take the doubles point and start the match, 1-0.
The Bulldogs played without seniors
Bailey Padgett and
Rachel Sutton, typically the top two players in the Butler line-up. The duo spent much of the week competing in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
