WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Butler volleyball team dropped a five-set match to Georgetown on Friday night, moving their overall record to 12-4 (25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-13).
Makayla Ferguson,
Anna Logan and
Whitney Beck all posted double-doubles in the setback.
Service aces played a huge role in the outcome of the match with Georgetown registering 12 compared to Butler's two. Ferguson was credited with each of Butler's aces. She ended the match with 38 assists, 12 digs, four kills and a block.

Whitney Beck was credited with 16. Logan added 11 digs and five blocks to her stat line. Beck was in the box score with 14 digs and four blocks.
Rachel Klitzing and
Bri Lilly were also heavily involved in the contest. Klitzing had eight blocks and five kills. Lilly came up with nine kills and four blocks.
Set one went to the home team with Georgetown going on a late 5-0 run to take the 1-0 lead. The Hoyas broke a 16-16 tie to grab a 21-16 lead off a kill from Olivia King, Back-to-back BU attack errors would end the action at 25-19.
Butler evened the score at 1-1 with a 25-22 win in set two. The two clubs came together at 22-22, but the Bulldogs would score the next three points to take the win. Momentum however swung back to the home team with Georgetown posted a 25-19 win in the third set.
Butler didn't go down without a fight as they easily evened the playing field in the fourth with a 25-16 win. The fifth set however would take a bad turn as Butler let a 13-10 lead slip away. The Hoyas fired back with five-straight points to earn the win in crunch time. Margo Pivonka took the serve and never let it go to lead the comeback.
Butler will return to action tomorrow, Sept. 30 with a 3 PM match at Villanova.
