@ButlerUWBB Wins at Georgetown 66-57

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Butler Bulldogs picked up their 10th win of the regular season with a 66-57 victory at Georgetown on Friday night. Tori Schickel and Whitney Jennings combined to score 54 of Butler's 66 total points, and the BU defense limited the Hoyas to just five made field goals over the final 20 minutes of action.

Schickel and Jennings were unstoppable at Georgetown which helped the Bulldogs improve their BIG EAST record to 2-1. Schickel played a full 40 minutes and posted 28 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and a steal. Jennings knocked down five of her nine field goals from 3-point range to add 26 points. She pulled down five boards and added an assist in 38 minutes of playing time.

The BU scoring total was rounded out by Michelle Weaver (4), Iman Lathan (4), Kaela Hodges (2) and Shae Brey (2). The 'Dawgs only played seven players and were without Kristen Spolyar who was out with an illness.

Butler's recipe for success included outrebounding the Hoyas in their own gym 44-33. Butler also shot 44.4 percent from the field while Georgetown only made 30.8 percent of their shots.

The Bulldogs scored the first two points of the game off a Schickel lay-up, but the Hoyas would take control of the action early with a 10-0 scoring run. Butler would answer the call for the second-straight game and fight back to tie the game at 18-18 after the opening 10 minutes.

The Bulldogs would outscore Georgetown 17-12 in the second quarter to take a five-point edge into halftime. That lead would grow to seven on their first possession of the second half, but would disappear midway through the third as Georgetown tied the game at 39-39.

Butler would lock in defensively over the final 3:30 of the third and go on a 10-0 scoring run to take an eight-point lead into the fourth.

The final frame would feature Butler leading by as many as 15 points, and the final buzzer would sound with Butler on top 66-57.

Butler will return to action on Sunday with a 1PM home game against Seton Hall.
