INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs recorded a 3-1 victory at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday night by defeating Seton Hall 19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 29-27. The victory is Butler's eighth of the season and fifth in the BIG EAST standings.
Natalie Ravenell led Butler to victory with her third double-double of the season. Her season-high 20 kills came off 43 attempts (.395). She also added 12 digs, and four blocks in the four-set match.
The offense also ran through
Brooke Gregory who ended the night with 18 kills off 44 swings (.318). Setting up the action was
Maddie Freiwald with 53 assists.
Butler came up with 14 team blocks compared to just five from Seton Hall.
Melody Davidson led the way with eight blocks. She added seven kills and three digs to her stat line.
Bri Lilly was credited with six blocks and nine kills. Teammate
Rachel Klitzing was in the box score with seven kills and five blocks.
The defense also got a lift from libero
Elizabeth LaBue. The true freshman notched a team-high 17 digs.
Emma Milstead chipped in with 10.
The Pirates were led by Abby Thelen with 18 kills and Caitlin Koska who added 15. The Pirates also had four different players with a double figure dig total.
Butler will ride this momentum into next weekend when they hit the road for a single match at Xavier. Action in Cincinnati will get underway at 7 PM on Friday, Nov. 2.
