The Bulldogs look to advance to the BIG EAST Championship match for the second straight season as they host Providence Thursday night in the BIG EAST Semifinals. The Friars defeated St. John's 1-0 on Sunday afternoon to secure a spot in the semifinals. Butler defeated Providence, 3-0, in last season's BIG EAST Semifinals in Indianapolis. The match is set for 7 p.m. and will air live on BEDN.

Four Bulldogs Earn All-BIG EAST Honors
Four Bulldogs earned postseason honors on Saturday afternoon after an announcement from the BIG EAST Conference office.Â
Anja Savich was tabbed Freshman of the Year while three other Bulldogs earned All-BIG EAST Honors. Senior midfielderÂ
Paige Monaghan and redshirt junior defenderÂ
Annika Schmidt earned spots on the All-BIG EAST First Team. Savich was also named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team and the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. Joining Savich on the All-Freshman team is teammateÂ
Morgan Kloosterman.
Series History
Providence and Butler met this season on Sept. 30 in Indianapolis, with the Bulldogs scoring a 1-0 win off a goal from
Madison Toth. Butler defeated Providence, 3-0, in last season's BIG EAST Semifinals, while the teams also met in the 2015 final, with Butler scoring a 1-0 win to claim their first BIG EAST title.
Last Time Around
The Bulldogs earned three important points in the conference standings on Thursday afternoon by recording a 2-1 road win at Villanova. Butler led 1-0 at the half and would add an insurance goal in the opening stages of the second to come out victorious. The first goal of the game came off a BU corner kick.Â

The Bulldogs are a perfect 8-0 at home this season and have only trailed one time at the Sellick Bowl. Butler has outscored opponents 19-2 at home this season, with seven of those goals coming against BIG EAST opponents.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Halle Stelbasky earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after netting her 6th goal of the season Thursday night, which proved to be the game winner in the Bulldogs' 2-1 win over Villanova. With the win over Nova, the Bulldogs helped to secure the #2 seed, and the bye, in the tournament field.

The championship match of the 2018 BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship Tournament will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1:00 PM. Butler would play the winner of the match between Georgetown and Xavier live on FS1. If Georgetown wins they will host the championship match. If the Bulldogs win and the Hoyas lose, then BU will host Xavier.
