Butler closed out its five-game weekend at the Friends of Jaclyn Invitational with a 6-0 loss to South Alabama Sunday morning.
The game was played in Longwood, Fla.
Alexis Reid pitched a no-hitter for South Alabama, allowing the Bulldogs only two walks and a hit by pitch. A fourth Bulldog reached on an error.
Kaitlin Doud got the start and took the loss for the Bulldogs. She allowed the first five runs for South Alabama. Doud gave way to freshman
Alyssa Graves, who got the final out of the second inning and pitched a scoreless third and fourth innings. Senior
Ambry Turpen pitched the final two frames.
South Alabama put up a single run in the first inning followed by four in the second to take control of the game. The Jaguars added an insurance run in the fifth.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend, traveling to College Station, Texas. Texas A&M will host a weekend event that has Butler playing five games: two against the host Aggies, two versus Iowa and a single game against Tulsa. The Bulldogs open play Friday.
