The Butler Lacrosse team took a 19-9 loss at Central Michigan on Wednesday afternoon. The loss moves Butler to 0-3, Central Michigan moves to 2-2 with the win.
Morgan Paige put the Bulldogs on the board first with a goal off a free position attempt four minutes into the first half. That is her second goal of the season. The Chippewas quickly answered to tie the game at 1-1.
From there, Central Michigan went on a 3-0 run until
Elizabeth Davide scored her first goal of the season off an assist from
Ashley Steffes.
Ashley Lizzi and
Haley Hallenbeck each would score the final goals for the Bulldogs in the first half. Central Michigan took an 11-4 lead into the half.
The Bulldogs started the second half on a 2-0 run with goals by Hallenbeck (assisted by
Sydney Pattison) and
Ashley Guerra (assisted by Paige) in the opening minutes. Hallenbeck scored her second goal of the game at the 11:32 mark to cut the Chippewas lead to five.
Hallenbeck would score her third goal of the game to break up a Central Michigan scoring spree. With 14:24 to play, the Chippewas led 15-8. Guerra scored Butler's final goal of the game on an assist from Hallenbeck. Central Michigan won the final 30 minutes 8-5.
The Bulldogs return to action on March 3 with a home match against Detroit Mercy. The match is set to begin at noon.
