The Butler lacrosse team opened BIG EAST play Sunday, falling to UConn 22-5. The Bulldogs are now 1-8 on the season, the Huskies move to 5-4 with the win.
UConn opened the first half on a 3-0 scoring run and controlled the game from there. They would score 14 goals in the first half compared to Butler's three.
Freshman
Morgan Paige opened the scoring for Butler off an assist from
Ashley Guerra. Guerra and
Christina Soderquist put the other two Bulldog goals in the back of the net off free position shots.
Butler's two goals in the second half were scored by
Haley Hallenbeck, her 13
th of the season, and
Katelyn Murphy. Both were assisted by Guerra.
Grace Nolan led the attack for the Huskies with eight goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Grace Beshlian notched her fifth win of the season.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, March 25, hosting BIG EAST opponent Vanderbilt. The match is slated to begin at Noon.
