Seton Hall took the BIG EAST weekend series finale, 1-0, Saturday at the Butler Softball Field in Indianapolis. The visiting Pirates pushed across a run in the top of the first inning and that held up.
Butler took the first two games of the series with a Friday doubleheader sweep. Butler is now 11-17 on the season and 2-1 in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall improves to 15-21 (1-5 BIG EAST).
Seton Hall's run in the first inning came on a Janae Barracato lead-off single. She advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches and scored on Hailey Arteaga's sacrifice fly.
That would be all that Seton Hall starter Reganne Camp would need. After taking the loss in Friday's second game, Camp pitched the shutout Saturday, scattering three hits and three walks. She threw 88 pitches.
Freshman
Alyssa Graves took the loss after surrendering the first-inning run. She is now 5-8 on the season.
Kaitlin Doud came on in relief for the Bulldogs and pitched 5.2 scoreless innings. She allowed only two hits and one walk. In two games of work this weekend, Doud allowed only two runs in 12.2 innings.
Jenna Foreman,
Alyssa Lach, and
Madi Christiansen registered Butler's three hits.
Butler returns to action Thursday, hosting Evansville for a single game at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs' next BIG EAST series is a April 7-8 against Creighton in Indianapolis.
