INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates scored off a single run in the third and increased their lead with two more runs in the fifth.
Three runs would be more than enough for Seton Hall starter Ricky Devito. The right hander tossed eight full innings and only allowed four BU hits. Devito struck out eight and only issued one walk. The save would go to Andrew Politi who retired the final three BU batters in order.
Sam Hubbe was hit with the loss (1-1) for BU. He was one of three Bulldogs to touch the rubber on Saturday. Hubbe threw 4.2 innings, striking out four and walking just one.
Quentin Miller would replace Hubbe on the mound and get a single out. The final four frames went to
Ryan Pepiot.
The first run of the game would come home on a sacrifice fly to left field from shortstop Al Molina. Rob Dadona would tag up and make the score 1-0 in the third. Dadona would put his stamp on the game again in the fifth with a two-run home run to left field. It was just his third homer of the season, yet his second at Bulldog Park in two days.
The series finale will be played tomorrow at 12PM.
