The Butler lacrosse team fell to Cincinnati 14-8 Saturday in their final home game of the season. The Bulldogs fall to 1-15, 0-8 in BIG EAST play. Cincinnati notches their first BIG EAST win and moves to 7-8 on the season.
The first half was a battle between the Bulldogs and Bearcats. Cincinnati struck first but
Haley Hallenbeck answered quickly with her 20
th goal this season off an assist from
Sydney Pattison. The Bearcats would score another one but Hallenbeck, Pattison, and
Morgan Paige each put one in the back of the net to lead 4-2 with 13 minutes to go in the first half.
Cincinnati battled back, finishing the half with three-straight goals to lead the Bulldogs 5-4.
Karina Latsko scored her 10
th goal of the season just seconds into the second half to bring the score even at 5-5. Cincinnati and Butler traded goals with
Katelyn Murphy,
Ashley Guerra, and
Ashley Lizzi scoring for Butler. With 15 minutes to play, the Bulldogs trailed 9-8.
The final 15 minutes were all Cincinnati as Sam Mlkvy scored five-straight to give the Bearcats the 14-8 victory.
Haley Hallenbeck led the Bulldogs for the second-straight game with two goals. Goalkeepers
Amanda Rumsey and
Haley Rayburn split the game in goal with the loss going to Rumsey. Rumsey tallied seven saves while Rayburn had 10.
Mlkvy led the Bearcats with a game-high seven goals. Monica Borzillo had four and three other Bearcats each added one. Guiliana Durso (7-8, 1-8) received the win in goal.
The Bulldogs will play their final game of the season at Florida on April 28. First draw is set for Noon.
