The Bulldogs' 2018 campaign came to an end Thursday morning in Cayce, S.C., as Butler dropped a 4-0 decision to Georgetown in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
The contest is the final match for Butler's four talented seniors from this year's roster –
Bailey Padgett,
Rachel Sutton,
Jordan Minnick, and
Callie Schmit.
Butler traveled to South Carolina without talented freshman
Emily Neal. The typical No. 3 player in the Bulldogs' line-up remained in Indianapolis due to an illness.
Georgetown captured the doubles point with wins on all three courts. The Hoyas then finished the match with three straight-set singles wins.
The Bulldogs finish the 2018 season with a record of 9-17. Georgetown advances to Friday's quarterfinals and will face top-seeded St. John's.
