The Butler lacrosse team took a 20-13 loss to Georgetown Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs fall to 1-12, 0-5 BIG EAST. Georgetown moves to 8-4, 4-1 in the BIG EAST with the win.
The Bulldogs outscored the Hoyas 10-9 in the second half but couldn't overcome the 11-3 lead Georgetown had built in the first half.
Georgetown jumped out to a 2-0 lead before
Christina Soderquist scored Butler's first goal from a
Sydney Pattison assist.
Haley Hallenbeck scored off a free position attempt to bring the game even. Michaela Bruno scored to put the Hoyas back in the lead but
Karina Latsko answered for the Bulldogs off a dish from
Elizabeth Davide.
From there, Georgetown would score the next eight to take an 11-3 lead into the half.
Sydney Pattison got the Bulldogs' offense rolling in the second half, scoring a man-up goal for Butler, assisted by
Christina Soderquist. Latsko and Soderquist scored the next two goals for the Bulldogs. Latsko scored off an assist from
Ashley Guerra while Soderquist's was unassisted.
The Bulldogs and Hoyas continued to trade goals with 20 minutes to play.
Morgan Paige scored off a free position attempt for the Bulldogs, followed by
Ashley Guerra's first goal of the game, assisted by Latsko, to bring the Bulldogs within five. Georgetown scored the next four to take a 17-8 lead, forcing Butler to call a timeout.
Soderquist scored her third goal of the game with nine minutes to play followed by a man-up goal from
Ashley Lizzi. Latsko, Steffes, and Guerra rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs were led by hat tricks from Soderquist and Latsko. This is Soderquist's third hat trick this season.
Bruno and Taylor Gebhardt led the scoring for Georgetown, each with a game-high four goals. Goalkeeper Haelle Chomo received the win in goal.
The Bulldogs return to action on April 14, hosting Temple at noon.
