Butler has been picked to finish second in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll. The conference's head coaches voted in both the preseason poll and for preseason All-BIG EAST honors. The results were announced Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Jared Timmer were selected to the preseason All-BIG EAST squad. Guhl was also named the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Butler enters the 2018 campaign ranked No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason national poll. The Bulldogs went 14-5-2 a season ago, winning the BIG EAST regular season title and advancing to the NCAA Round of 16.

Georgetown, which finished second to the Bulldogs in the 2017 regular season but won the BIG EAST Tournament, was picked to win the conference. The Hoyas received seven first-place votes from the coaches, while Butler picked up the remaining three nods.

Marco Charalambous, who missed the 2017 season due to injury.

Guhl has also been selected to the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. He was named a Second-Team All-American by College Soccer News following the 2017 season, which was his first as a Bulldog after transferring from SMU. Guhl led the BIG EAST with 13 goals and 31 points and was named the conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Year in addition to landing a spot on the conference's first team.

Moulden anchors the Bulldogs' back line. He played every minute in the 20 matches he started in 2017. He was named All-BIG EAST second team and United Soccer Coaches All-Great Lakes Region third team a season ago. He helped the Bulldogs to nine shutouts in 2017 while also scoring two goals and adding one assist.

Timmer received a medical redshirt in 2017 after suffering a season-ending injury in the team's second match of the season. He was a 2016 All-BIG EAST First Team selection when he led the conference with nine assists.

The Bulldogs host Division II national champion University of Charleston Sunday in the team's final exhibition contest prior to the beginning of the 2018 season.
