The Bulldogs are set to host IUPUI on Monday, Aug. 20 in the first home game of the season. Kickoff is slated for 7PM and the game will stream on Facebook Live.

About the Bulldogs

Butler is coming off a 3-1 victory over Kent State on Thursday. Freshmen were key, with newcomers Anja Savich and Morgan Kloosterman finding the back of the net for the Bulldogs. Savich led the team with two goals off assists from Cassidy Blacha and Paige Monaghan. Annika Schmidt and Katie Soderstrom received the double assist on Kloosterman's goal.

The Bulldogs outshot the Golden Flashes 18 to three. Monaghan led the team in shots with eight, putting three on frame in her 90 minutes of play.

Hannah Luedtke and Leonie Doege split the game in goal, with Luedtke receiving the start and win. Doege posted a clean sheet in the second half of the game, making one save.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the preseason schedule with a 2-0 win against Illinois on Aug. 10 and a 4-0 win over Wright State on Aug. 7. Goalkeepers Luedtke and Doege combined for the two-game shutout.

Savich, Macy Miller, Amanda Kowalski, and Breann Pempek each put one in the back of the net against Wright State. Monaghan and Halle Stelbasky were the goal scorers against Illinois.

About the Opponent: IUPUI

The Jaguars opened the 2018 season with a 2-0 win over crosstown foe Marian on Friday. Senior Braegan Lyon and sophomore Jess Cowen were the goal scorers for IUPUI. Sophomore keeper Sophia Lipka received the shutout.

IUPUI is coming off a 14-6-3 2017 campaign, capped by winning the Horizon League Tournament and earning the program's second-ever NCAA Tournament berth. The Jaguars shutout a school record 10 foes last year and are picked to finish second in the Horizon League.

Returning for the Jaguars is reigning Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year Lipka (0.90 GAA, 10 shutouts) and talented sophomore forward Valentine Pursey (13 goals, 3 assists). In addition, sophomore Natalie McNally played a team-high 2,018 minutes a season ago and veterans Lyon, Becca Spitalniak and Jenna Sterr headline a defense that registered a school record 10 shutouts last season.
