Scouting #25 Butler
The Bulldogs (3-0) are coming off a statement-making 4-1 win over previously-ranked Notre Dame on Aug. 26. Butler exploded with four goals against the Irish, including one within the first 90 seconds of the game.
Senior
Paige Monaghan led the Bulldogs, netting her first goal of the season to give the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead in the second minute of the match. She also had an assist and added the exclamation point to the victory, scoring in the 88
th minute. Freshmen
Morgan Kloosterman and
Katie Soderstrom scored the other two goals against the Irish.
Hannah Luedtke and
Leonie Doege split the game in goal, shutting out the Irish until the 69
th minute.
The Bulldogs also own wins over IUPUI and Kent State. A season ago, the Bulldogs were 7-1-1 against non-conference opponents and 4-2-4 on the road.
About the Opponent: Dayton
Dayton came from behind on Sunday to defeat Eastern Michigan 3-1, moving the Flyers to 3-1-0. The only loss for Dayton came at the hands of Louisville, who beat the Flyers 1-0. Dayton also has wins over James Madison and William and Mary. Six different Flyers have scored goals this season: led by junior Micayla Livingston with two, and one each for senior Keagin Collie, sophomores Morgan Henderson and Camarco, and freshmen Izzy Greene and Hannah Osland.
About the Opponent: #19 Kansas
Kansas is coming off a 1-1 double overtime draw against Oregon on Sunday. Senior midfielder Kaycie Young scored the lone goal for the Jayhawks. Before taking on the Bulldogs, Kansas will host Utah on Friday, Aug. 31.
Kansas has not lost in 2018, posting a 1-0 win against then ranked No. 18 Pepperdine in their opening game of the season. The Jayhawks also own wins against South Dakota State and Oregon State. Katie McClure is the offensive leader for the Jayhawks with three goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Sarah Peters has played every minute in the net and has only allowed one goal

Bulldogs Ranked
The Butler women's soccer team has cracked the United Soccer Coaches poll, coming in at No. 25. Butler was previously receiving votes and is now ranked for the first time in 2018.
The Bulldogs are 3-0 on the season, with their most recent win coming against nationally-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday. Butler took down the Irish 4-1, scoring just 90 seconds into the match and never relinquishing their lead. The Bulldogs have also posted a 2-0 win over IUPUI and a 3-1 victory against Kent State.
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
The reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year led No. 25 Butler to two wins last week, including a 4-1 victory over No. 20 Notre Dame on Sunday. For the week, Monaghan totaled seven points off two goals and three assists. Five of those points came against the nationally ranked Fighting Irish, as the senior scored two goals and added an assist. The senior broke into the scoring column against Notre Dame after just 93 seconds, then provided the exclamation point in the 89th. She assisted on both goals in Butler's 2-0 win over IUPUI as the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Schmidt led the defensive effort in No. 25 Butler's 2-0 week as the Bulldogs outscored their opponents by a 6-1 margin and more than doubled them in shots. Butler kept No. 20 Notre Dame off the scoreboard until the 69th minute on Sunday, while holding Monday's foe, IUPUI, to just three shots, outshooting the Jaguars 26-3 in the 2-0 victory.

Following the two road games, the Bulldogs will have a two game home stand. Butler will host Evansville on Sept. 6 at 7PM and Northern Kentucky on Sept. 9 at 1PM.
