@Butler_CCTF Continues Indoor Competition at Gladstein Invite

Schedule of Events | Live Results

The Bulldogs look to continue the successful start to their season this weekend, competing at the Gladstein Invite in Bloomington, Ind. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18. It is a two day meet that will resume on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

"We are competing our largest group ever at the Gladstein Invite while still holding out key individuals in preparation for top invitational meets and the championship season," head coach Matt Roe said.  "This fact is a great testament to the growth and improved depth throughout our program.  I look forward to witnessing another positive step forward for our teams this weekend."

The Bulldogs will compete against 12 teams in Bradley, Cornerstone, Hanover, Miami (OH), Murray State, Oakland, St. Norbert, Cincinnati, Dayton, Southern Indiana, Western Michigan, and Indiana.

In the first competition of the semester, the Bulldogs had three first-place finishers and strong performances across the board.

At the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Ky., Euan Makepeace picked up where he left off in 2018, taking first place in the 3,000 meters and earning BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week honors. The redshirt-junior finished in a time of 8:08.50, a full six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Makepeace's 3,000 meter time currently sits at first in the BIG EAST and third in the NCAA.

Junior Josephine Thestrup and sophomore Camille Hines also built on a successful 2018 cross country season, placing fourth and seventh, respectively, in the mile. Thestrup finished in 4:50.86 and Hines finished four seconds later in 4:54.06. Teammate Mia Beckham had a strong collegiate debut in the mile, finishing third in her section in 5:07.56.

At Illinois, Allie Vogeler and Jacob Uhl continued to impress, both taking first place in the 400 meters. Uhl finished in 50.88 while Vogeler ran the race in 57.45.
