The Butler women's tennis team opens 2019 with two road dual matches this weekend, taking on Cincinnati on Friday at 5 p.m. and Purdue on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Bulldogs look to build off a solid fall campaign.
 "We are really looking forward to putting all of hard work on display this match season," interim head coach
Matt Moore said. Â "Our players have an excellent understanding of their strengths, match strategies that will maximize their potential, and the toughness to handle the momentum swings that come with a challenging match season.
"Our coaching staff is very confident we will achieve our team goals and build excellent momentum for the future of Butler tennis."
The Bulldog roster features juniors
Caroline McAuley and
Nina Bertino, both of whom posted a winning record during the fall campaign. Bertino tallied seven wins and only one loss, while McAuley went 3-1 in singles play during the fall. Junior
Lauryn Padgett will also see significant singles action.
Rookies
Sara Linn and
Sarah Monesmith, as well as sophomore Emily will be difference makers for the Bulldogs in singles play as well as doubles play.
Carla O'Byrne,
Lauren Marx,
Kendal Wilby,
Natale Corrigan, and
Hallie Leblebijian will all see action in various spots as well.
Butler begins BIG EAST play on Jan. 25, taking on Georgetown in Griffith, Ind. The Georgetown match is one of three matches in three days for the Bulldogs, who take on Valparaiso on Jan. 26, and DePaul on Jan. 27.
