SCOUTING DRAKE: The Bulldogs lost their first three games of the 2019 season, but have bounced back to win their first two PFL contests to give them a 2-3 overall record. They were limited to just seven points in each of their first two games, and took a 38-10 setback to #3 South Dakota State to end the non-conference slate. PFL play opened with Drake defeating Marist 41-17. Their most recent victory came at home over Valparaiso 35-6. Drake ranks second in the PFL in total defense. Alex Rogers and Gavin Dineen are two of the top players on that side of the ball. Rogers has a team-best 34 tackles from his DB position. Dineen is the leader of the defensive line with two sacks. The offense is led by true freshman Ian Corwin. The newcomer quarterback has passed for over 900 yards and nine touchdowns over his first five starts. His primary target is tight end Devin Cates. The 6-5, fifth-year senior has 292 receiving yards and a team-high three touchdowns.

Corwin was named STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week after the team's win at Marist. Corwin completed 20-of-29 passes for 255 yards and four touchdowns.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Drake leads the all-time series 19-8-1. Butler's last win over Drake came in 2015 at the Sellick Bowl 20-13.

The first meeting between Butler and Drake was played in 1932. Neither team scored leading to the 0-0 tie.

LAST YEAR AT DRAKE: Drake defeated Butler 36-6 last year behind a three touchdown performance from Grant Kraemer. The Bulldogs bottled up the Drake rushing attack, but big plays would decide the outcome. Drake led 14-0 at the half and would score on two 20-yard TD passes in the second half. Stephen Dennis was responsible for Butler's six points. He caught a 21-yard TD pass from Will Marty in the fourth.

Butler dominated time of possession (41:31 vs. 18:29) and held Drake without a rushing first down in the last meeting.

FOUR PICKS: The Butler defense came up with four interceptions at Stetson on Oct. 5. It was their first game with multiple picks since 2017 when they recorded three INT's at Stetson.

Butler recorded five interceptions in a single-game at Taylor during the 2015 campaign.

DENNIS DELIVERS AT STETSON: WR Stephen Dennis caught five passes for a season-high 106 yards and one touchdown at Stetson. It was the first 100+ yard receiving game of the season for BU and the first receiving TD of the season for Dennis.

Dennis scored on a 16-yard TD pass from Sam Brown on Butler's opening possession at Stetson. It was the first time this season that BU has scored in the first quarter.

LEWIS LIFTS BU DEFENSE: Austin Lewis made his 2019 season debut at Stetson last weekend. Lewis made three tackles and picked off a pass in his first game back from injury.

PFL HOME OPENER: Butler is 6-7 in PFL home openers under the direction of HC Jeff Voris. They posted a 24-21 win over Morehead State a year ago.

Butler has hosted Drake in their PFL home opener three other times under the tutelage of Voris. BU is 1-2 in those matchups.

ORLANDO PART OF THE OFFENSE: Backup QB Nick Orlando has scored a rushing touchdown in three-straight games.

Orlando now ranks second on the team in rushing attempts and is responsible for half of Butler's rushing TD's this season.

SAM SHARES: QB Sam Brown has four passing TD's to four different receivers this season.

Brown matched his career-best effort with two passing touchdowns at Stetson.

UP NEXT: Butler will play at Morehead State next weekend on ESPN+. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 PM.

Morehead State leads the all-time series 14-8, but the Bulldogs have won the last two meetings.
