@ButlerVB Wins BIG EAST Home Opener over DePaul


INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler volleyball team evened their conference record with a 3-2 victory over DePaul on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs trailed the Blue Demons 8-2 in the fifth set, but would storm back with a 13-4 scoring run to earn the win.
 
How It Happened
Butler lost the first set 25-17, but would respond with a 25-22 win in set two. Elizabeth LaBue changed the momentum of the match with her aggressive serve. LaBue took a 7-3 deficit and turned it into a 12-8 lead. She recorded four aces during that scoring run and Butler would take that moment into the third set to collect a 25-21 win.
 
Set four went to the Blue Demons 25-22. Butler led the fourth 19-15, but DePaul would pull even at 22-22 and end that set on a 3-0 run to knot the match at 2-2. It seemed like DePaul was on their way to victory in the fifth as they opened an 8-2 run, but Butler took care of business on their home court to come back and win. The outcome marked Butler's first five-set win of the season.
 
Key Moment
Butler went on a 4-0 scoring run in the fifth set to get back within two points of DePaul in the fifth set. Megan Ramseyer would get BU to the finish line, allowing the 'Dawgs to score six-straight points off her serve.
 
Inside the Box Score
Megan Ramseyer notched a double-double with 39 assists and 13 digs.
Anna Logan led all Bulldogs with 15 kills. She added 13 digs for a double-double.
Elizabeth LaBue had four service aces for BU and a team-high 22 digs.
Shay Horn provided BU with 11 kills.
Brittany Robinson was in the box score with 10 kills.
 
Stat of the Game
Melody Davidson was the BEDN Player of the Match with eight kills and a team-best 11 blocks.
 
What's Next
Butler will play two road matches this weekend, beginning with a 5 PM contest at Georgetown on Friday night.
