INDIANAPOLIS – Butler picked up a 73-41 win on Sunday night against Eastern Kentucky. BU is now 3-0 at the start of the 2019 season.
How It Happened
Butler never trailed against Eastern Kentucky inside Hinkle Fieldhouse in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The 'Dawgs won the first quarter 14-2 and would enjoy a 33-9 advantage at the half. Defense dictated the outcome with Butler limiting EKU to just three made field goals over the opening 20 minutes of action. Butler shot 37 percent in the opening half and were led in the scoring column by
Naira Caceres.
Caceres had 10 at the half and 14 in the game. She knocked down her first three 3-point field goal attempts and also chipped in with eight rebounds. Butler shot 66.7 percent as a team in the third quarter to net 24 points. They floated to the finish line by winning the fourth quarter 16-13.
