Davidson Drops Butler 52-10 on Family Weekend


INDIANAPOLIS – Davidson scored 33 points in the second quarter to pull away from Butler and record a 52-10 win on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are now 2-8 in 2019 with two games left in the regular season.
 
How It Happened
The highlight of the day for the Bulldogs was the opening drive. BU traveled 60 yards on 19 plays to put three points on the scoreboard. The 'Dawgs used up nearly 10 minutes on the drive and would take that 3-0 lead into the second quarter.
 
The game drastically changed in the second with Davidson scoring 33 unanswered points. The Wildcats scored a touchdown on each of their first five possessions. Wesley Dugger was the driving force behind the Davidson rushing attack. He became the school's all-time rush leader after running for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Dugger's first TD run came from 18-yards out just before the half. He opened the third quarter with a three-yard TD run.
 
Davidson would win the third quarter 6-0 and outscore BU 13-7 in the fourth. Nick Orlando kept fighting for the Bulldogs and would score a rushing TD from 18-yards out. Orlando now has a team-high eight rushing touchdowns this season.
