Heat Sheets
The Bulldogs will head south to compete at the Hoosier Open in Bloomington, Ind. on Friday Dec. 13. The meet is the second competition of the season and the last time Butler will take the track in 2019.
Field events will begin at 3:45 p.m., starting with throws and followed by jumps. Running events will begin at 4:30 p.m., beginning with the women's 60-meter hurdle trials. The 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash are the only events with preliminary races.

Hoosier Open Notables
Two former Butler All-Americans hold Hoosier Open meet records. Six-time Bulldog All-American Mara Olsen holds the meet record in the women's 3,000-meter, clocking in at 9:11.86 in December of 2013. She is also the Butler school record holder in that same event.
On the men's side, Butler All-American Kris Gauson set the meet and Gladstein Fieldhouse record in the men's 1,000-meter race with a blazing 2:21.03 in December of 2011.

Feature Event
The Hoosier Open will feature a men's 5,000-meter race.
Barry Keane and
Simon Bedard will represent the Bulldogs in that event against an elite field of competitors, including Indiana All-Americans Kyle Mau and Ben Veatch.

Bulldog Debuts
Emily Royston, a 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championship qualifier, will make her season debut with the Bulldogs' track and field team in Bloomington, Ind. Royston will compete in the 3,000-meter event, along with cross country teammates,
Camille Hines and
Corinna Pena.

In the Hoosier State
Seven of the Bulldog's 11 indoor meets prior to the BIG EAST Championships take place right here in Indiana. The Hoosier Open is one of three meets that Butler will attend in Bloomington, Ind. Indiana University will also host its well-known Gladstein Invite and IU Relays at the end of January.

Blue and Gold Recap
The Bulldogs opened the indoor season at Notre Dame's Blue and Gold Invitational. Three Bulldogs won individual titles and several athletes notched personal-bests at the meet.
For the women,
Lily Hess won the 200-meter with a time of 25.42. She followed up that performance with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter with a time of 58.65.
Katherine Olsen won the 3,000-meter in her first race as a Bulldog. The freshman clocked a time of 10:01.05 in the event.
Niki Ezeh also had a strong opening showing for the Bulldogs, knocking down a school record in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, qualifying for finals with a time of 8.72. She went on to take third in the finals of the event, clocking in at 8.74.
Rebecca Collester notched personal best in the 60-meter prelims with a qualifying time of 7.88. She went on to take second in the finals (7.82). She also came in fourth in the 200-meter with a time of 25.74.
Sophomore
Nina Hilt was fourth in the women's long jump (4.93m).
On the men's side,
Barry Keane came home with the only men's individual title in the 3,000-meters. Keane had a standout season debut, dominating the race in 8:05.42, which currently leads NCAA Division I.
Simon Bedard came in just strides behind Keane, finishing in second with a time of 8:10.11.
Jacob Uhl started the indoor season with strong results in the 200-meter and 4-meter races. Uhl's personal best of 22.39 was good for third place and moved him to fourth on the Butler all-time indoor track and field list. Uhl also took home second in the 400-meter with a time of 48.42.

Joey Gareis all took home top-five finishes in their respective events.
