The Butler track and field team saw school records fall and a personal bests recorded at the Hoosier Open in Bloomington, Ind. on Friday, Dec. 13.
Roe on the Hoosier Open
"We had a tremendous meet tonight," said head coach
Matt Roe. " We were strong across the board. Everyone competed at a high level. We have a lot to be enthusiastic about as we head towards finals and some great training over winter break."
Women's Results
Niki Ezeh lowered her own 60-meter hurdle school record to 8.67 in the preliminary race.
She went on to take second overall in the finals, lowering the record by .06 to 8.61.

Ezeh also took sixth in the shot put (13.41m) and ninth in the long jump with a mark of 5.27m.

Lily Hess just missed knocking down a Bulldog record in the 60-meter dash. Hess clocked a 7.81 for sixth in the finals, followed by teammate
Rebecca Collester who came in seventh (7.90).

Carson Fields was the fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.77) and also finished eighth in the 60-meter race (8.03).

Nina Hilt (1.59m) and
Karmen Koch (1.55m) took third and fifth, respectively, in the women's high jump.

Emily Royston (9:45.92),
Camille Hines (9:52.03),
Corinna Pena (9:52.22) swept the second through fourth positions in the women's 3,000-meter.

Freshmen
Morgan Walsh (2:56.78) and
Katherine Olsen (2:56.80) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 1,000-meter.

Maddie McLain finished sixth in the mile, crossing the line at 5:03.36.

Men's Results
After setting a school record in the 60-meter dash preliminaries,
Garrett Kern lowered the record further in the 60-meter final, clocking in at 6.91. He took fifth overall in the event.

Kern also came close to claiming another school record, taking fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.39. He also posted a top-ten finish in the 200-meter, taking ninth with a time of 22.68.

Barry Keane (13:58.64) and
Simon Bedard (14:18.21) came in back-to-back for third and fourth in the meet's feature race, the 5,000-meter. Indiana's All-American duo of Kyle Mau and Ven Veatch swept first and second in the race.

Clark Otte and
Jackson Martin recorded lifetime bests in the men's 3,000-meter. Otte (8:26.35) took second and Martin (8:29.27) finished fourth.

Other notable finishes included
Evan Johnson (10
th) and
Nick Robie (11
th) in the 1,000-meter race. In the men's long jump,
Sam Robinson took seventh with a mark of 6.72m.
Luke Hofrichter finished eighth (9.55) in the 60-meter dash and then took 10
th in the long jump (6.27m).

The Bulldogs will take a few weeks off competition to train for the 2020 season, starting January 10.Â
