INDIANAPOLIS – Butler got back to their winning ways on Sunday by posting a 74-52 victory over High Point at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Kristen Spolyar led the Bulldogs with 18 points and five rebounds.
Butler took a 13-4 lead into the first media timeout and would never trail in the contest. Spolyar hit a triple from the left wing to cap off a 7-0 scoring spree, and the 'Dawgs would lead by 11 after the first quarter 22-11.
Butler shot 50 percent in the first frame to build the lead. Their defense also limited High Point to just three made field goals (18.8%). The game moved forward with Butler owning a 20-point lead at the half. They outscored High Point 9-1 over the final 4:40 of the second quarter.
Spolyar led all players with 12 points at the break. She was one of eight Bulldogs to find the score column over the first 20 minutes of action. The 'Dawgs dished out nine assists on 13 made field goals during that time.
Genesis Parker led the team with four.
The third quarter opened up with an 8-0 BU scoring run that put the Bulldogs up 48-22. The home team would then cruise to the finish line and win by 22.
Oumou Toure and
Upe Atosu would each score 11 points for Butler. Today's rebound leader was
Naira Caceres with nine and Parker would lead the team with five assists.
Butler will finish off their non-conference schedule next Sunday, Dec. 22 vs. Purdue Fort Wayne. Tip is set for 2 PM.
