Part of the Butler track and field team competed at the Friday Night Special in Charleston, Ill. on Friday night. The rest of the Bulldogs will compete tomorrow, Saturday Feb. 16, at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. These two meets are the last meets before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio next weekend.

The Bulldogs finished Friday night strong as several Bulldogs turned in quality performances.

In the women's 60-meter dash, sophomore
Lily Hess turned in a career best of 7.87 shaving .08 seconds off her previous time of 7.95. Syanne Johnston of Northern Illinois won the event with a time of 7.59.

McKenzie Greene also set a personal best in Charleston. Greene qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles and finished seventh overall with a time of 8.94. Remy Amartefio won the event finishing with a time of 8.39 also competing for Northern Illinois.

Butler was well represented in the women's 400-meter dash as four Bulldogs finished in the top ten. Hess was fourth with a time of 1:00.28, followed by
Madeline Miller in fifth with a time of 1:01.01,
Angela Neddeau came in sixth at 1:01.82.
Rebecca Collester rounded out Bulldogs, finishing ninth with a time of 1:02.15. Northern Illinois' Grace Harris took home the first place finish with a time of 58.81.

A pair of Bulldogs had strong performances in the men's long jump as
Luke Russell and
Sam Robinson finished third and fourth overall, respectively. Russell had a mark of 6.75m(22'1.75") and Robinson had a mark of 6.59m(21'7.5"). Isaiah LeSure of Western Illinois won the event with the longest jump of 7.12m(23'4.5").

Blake Roberts finished fourth overall in the men's mile with a time of 4:30.10. This was Roberts first collegiate mile. He finished behind first place finisher Ethan Pine of Wabash College who ran the mile in 4:24.00.

In the women's high jump, Butler had three athletes compete.Â
Nina Hilt highlighted the trio, finishing fifth overall with a mark of 1.57m(5'1.75"). Teammates
Niki Ezeh and
Karmen Koch both hit the mark of 1.52m(4'11.75"). Taylor Ramsey of Northern Illinois had the top mark of 1.66m(5'5.25").

Carson Fields finished fourth overall in the women's 200-meter with a time of 26.39. Remy Amartefio won the event finishing with a time of 25.63 competing for Northern Illinois.

In men's shot put,
Wade Walder finished 11th with a mark of 13.02m and
Richard Clark finished 17th with a mark of 12.04m.

In the men's 60-meter dash,
Tim Vestuto and
Jake Kellersohn ran 7.13 and 7.14, respectively, in their sections of the preliminaries.
