Central Michigan came away with a 16-6 win over Butler Sunday afternoon at Varsity Field in Indianapolis.
Butler is now 1-3 on the young season, while Central Michigan levels their record at 1-1.
In cold and windy conditions, visiting CMU got goals from eight different players. CMU scored the first four goals of the game and held an 11-1 halftime advantage.
Ashley Guerra and
Karina Latsko each scored two goals for the Bulldogs, who also had
Holly Hall and
Layla Tattersfield find the net. Guerra and
Ashley Steffes added assists.
Central Michigan possessed 15 of 23 draw controls and took advantage of all three of their extra-man opportunities.
Jessica Schuchardt, Anna Schoonover, and Natalie Karlen each had three scores for CMU.
Carly Hewitt had a team-best four groundballs for Butler. All three Butler goalkeepers saw action in the contest.
Amanda Rumsey and
Katie McGrath each made two saves.
The Bulldogs return to action Friday (March 1), hosting St. Bonaventure at Varsity Field at 3 p.m.
