The Bulldogs sit at 8-7 on the season after splitting a pair of Saturday matches against DePauw and Akron. Butler took down DePauw 6-1 in the first match of the day, but fell to Akron 7-0 to close out the day.

Butler took the doubles point to start against DePauw, sweeping all three matches.  Sara Linn and Emily Neal took the first win at the No. 1 court, defeating Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder, 6-1. Nina Bertino and Lauryn Padgett followed it up with a 6-3 win at No. 2. Caroline McAuley and Kendal Wilby battled to take a 7-6 win at No. 3 against Amanda Showalter and Erin Fredrich.

Lauren Marx began singles play with a strong, straight set victory over Wilder. Linn then beat Colleen Morris 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 position. Nina Bertino battled at No. 3, coming from behind and defeating Showalter 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Hallie Leblebijian and Carla O'Byrne also posted straight set victories in the Bulldogs' defeat of DePauw.

Akron had the upper hand in the Bulldogs' second match of the day, taking the doubles point and six singles for the 7-0 win. Leblebijian battled in the No. 5 singles spot, taking the first set 6-1, but ultimately falling in the second two sets.

Bertino played in the No. 1 position, but fell to Miruna Vasilescu 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, Akron took wins at the No. 1 and 2 courts to clinch the point.

The Bulldogs wrap up the weekend Sunday, hosting Illinois State at Noon at the Butler Bubble.
