The Bulldogs lost a hard-fought battle Thursday afternoon to BIG EAST opponent St. John's. The Red Storm took the doubles point and four singles wins to take the match, 5-2.
Caroline McAuley and
Lauren Marx tallied the Bulldogs' two wins in singles play.
St. John's took wins at the No. 1 and 2 courts to clinch the doubles point. At the No. 3 court,
Kendal Wilby and McAuley were victorious, taking down Gabriela Tenorio and Jenelle Downer, 7-5.
To clinch the match, St. John's won matches at the No. 1, 4, and 2 courts, respectively. McAuley defeated Tenorio at the No. 5 spot.
Nina Bertino battled at the No. 3 court, taking the second set, but ultimately fell 6-0, 4-6, 6-2. Marx wrapped up singles play for the Bulldogs with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Downer.
The Bulldogs return to the court tomorrow, taking on Queens College in Flushing, N.Y. at Noon. Butler will then travel to South Orange, N.J. to battle Seton Hall at 7 p.m.
