Georgetown Defeats @ButlerWLacrosse, 21-3

The Bulldogs (3-8, 0-1 BIG EAST) took their first conference loss Saturday afternoon, falling to Georgetown (7-4, 0-1 BIG EAST), 21-3. The Hoyas scored early and often to tally their first BIG EAST win of the season.

The first goal of the game came just over a minute in with Georgetown's Taylor Gebhardt scoring her 23rd goal of the season. From there, the Hoyas scored five goals in the next seven minutes to take a 6-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Madeline Hooks broke up the run with a free position goal.

The Hoyas continued to score and took a 13-2 lead into the half. KK Callaghan had Butler's second goal of the half off a free position shot.

The Bulldogs were unable to hold off Georgetown's momentum as the Hoyas scored eight more in the second half, compared to just one by the Bulldogs. Hannah Justice had Butler's final goal of the game off a free position shot.

Liza Liotta led the Georgetown attack with four goals, while Gebhardt added three. Haelle Chomo (7-3) received the win for the Hoyas, making seven saves.

All three Bulldog goalies saw time in the cage this afternoon, with Amanda Rumsey (3-7) receiving the start and the loss. She made four saves and allowed 13 goals. Freshman Katie McGrath (0-1) saw 20 minutes in goal during the second half, allowing five goals on four saves. Haley Rayburn finished out the final nine minutes in goal, allowing three goals and making one save.

The Bulldogs return to the field on Tuesday, making the trip to Cincinnati for a Noon opening draw against the Bearcats.
