Butler Notes
Â
Last weekend at Indiana State, the Bulldogs had one of their most successful meets of the season with several personal bests, a 5000-meter win for
Blake Roberts, and the women's 4x100 team once again set a new school record.
Â
This weekend, the Bulldogs will face strong competition as schools from across the Midwest come to compete. There are 17 teams competing on the men's side and 20 on the women's.
Â
Nearly the entire team will be in action this weekend as they look to set championship qualifying times.
Â
Sprints
Â
The Bulldog sprinters will look to build off their success that they had last weekend with many of them setting personal bests.
Â
Colton Haymon,
Jake Kellersohn and
Jake Bowers will run the 100-meter dash again this weekend after they each set personal bests at Indiana State. They will be joined in the event by
Tim Vestuto, who is competing for the first time since Stan Lyons earlier this season.
Â
On the women's side of the 100-meter,
Ariel Higgins,
Carson Fields, and
McKenzie Greene will all run for Butler.
Â
The 200-meter dash will see the most Bulldogs out of any other event with 10 total runners competing
Â
The men's side will once again have Haymon and Kellersohn, as well as
Richard Clark and
Connor Fuller. Haymon and Kellersohn also ran personal bests in this event a week ago in addition to the 100-meters.
Â
Rebecca Collester will lead the women on their side of the 200, just a week after moving into third all-time on the Butler 100-meter dash list. She will be joined by Higgins, Fields,
Lily Hess,
Madeline Miller, and
Angela Neddeau.Â
Â
Capping off the sprints is the 400-meter dash.
Allie Vogeler will run in the event for the first time since indoor championships. Vogeler currently leads the BIG EAST in the 400 hurdles with a time of 59.22 and she looks to be a top contender in the 400 dash this weekend.
Â
She will be joined by Collester, Hess, Miller, and Neddeau. Last weekend, Hess moved into third place on the school record list in this event with a time of 57.42. Also in the 400 a week ago, Collester set a new personal best with a time of 59.71.
Â
Fuller and
Jacob Uhl will be the lone Bulldogs on the men's side of the 400. Fuller also set a personal best at Indiana State with a time of 50.66.
Â
Middle Distance
Â
There are two middle distance events this weekend starting with the 800-meter run.
Â
Josephine Thestrup will lead the women's side as she competes in the event for the first time this season. Joining Thestrup will be
Emma Bailey who ran the 800 last weekend and finished with a time of 2:33.48.
Â
On the men's side of the 800,
Eric Baugh and
Chandler McGaha will both run in an event they are accustomed to.
Â
Last weekend, McGaha finished third in this event with a time of 1:55.04. Baugh is competing for the first time since the Raleigh Relays two weeks ago.
Â
The 1500 will see Bailey,
Corinna Pena,
Mia Beckham,
Clare McCabe, and
Kara Stark all run for the women.
Â
The lone competitor for Butler on the men's side of the 1500 will be
Evan Johnson.
Â
Long Distance
Â
The lone long distance event this weekend is the 5000-meter run.
Â
Blake Roberts is coming off a win in this event at Indiana State with a time of 15:42.14. He will be joined by
Andrew Taylor who finished in third place in the same event last weekend.
Â
Allison Miller and
Elizabeth Hinkle will compete on the women's side. Both Miller and Hinkle made their debuts in this event at Indiana State last weekend, and will try to improve upon their first-time finishes.
Â
Hurdles
Â
Nina Hilt will run the 100-meter hurdles again this weekend after moving into fifth all-time in the Butler record books with a finish of 15.11. She will be joined by Higgins, Greene, and
Niki Ezeh, who moved up the Butler all-time list herself last weekend, as she is now third in the long jump and fourth in the 200-meter dash.
Â
In the 110-meter hurdles, Clark will be joined by
Luke Hofrichter and
Garrett Kern. Last weekend, Kern was the lone 110-meter competitor for Butler and he finished in 16.11
Â
Jake Bowers will run the 400 hurdles again after setting a personal best time of 1:01.38 last weekend.
Â
Field
Â
In the men's jumps,

Â
Hilt will compete in both the women's long and high jumps with Ezeh joining her in the high jump and
Megan Leaman in the long jump.
Â
Hilt and Ezeh will also compete in the shot put and javelin throw, with
Molly Kracht joining them in javelin.
Â
Men's shot put will be the lone event that
Wade Walder is competing in this weekend after competing in several events the last few weeks. Clark will join him in shot put.
