Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team honors for the 2018-19 NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field seasons were announced Tuesday (July 23) by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Butler's men and women were both honored as a 2019 All-Academic team.
Â
"It never ceases to amaze me how well our program performs in the classroom," said head coach
Matt Roe. "We are routinely one of the top programs in the NCAA in GPA. Our success is directly related to the commitment of our student-athletes and the engagement and care of our terrific professors and faculty."
The Butler men ranked tied for 13th among NCAA Division I men's teams with a team GPA of 3.41. The women posted a 3.63 GPA to finish tied for sixth in NCAA Division I on the women's side.
Â
All-Academic Team honors are awarded to all recommended teams who attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field. For the 2018-19 season, 366 teams were awarded, breaking down to 277 women's programs and 139 men's programs.Â
