Box Score
The Butler women's soccer team moved to 3-0-0 on the season after defeating Northern Kentucky on the road in a 2-1 decision.
The Bulldogs made a powerful offensive comeback in the second period, netting two goals in the last 20 minutes of regulation.
"All credit to Northern Kentucky," said coach
Rob Alman. "Coach Bob Sheehan always has his team very well organized and their players worked incredibly hard all night and made things very difficult for us. The manner in which we conceded the goal was disappointing but our ladies response to that setback, especially as it's the first time we've gone behind in a game this entire calendar year, was absolutely outstanding. Our ladies continued to create chances, we hit the post, their goalkeeper made several excellent saves particularly from Savich's header and ultimately it took two top quality goals to break them down and get the win."
How It Happened
Both teams executed tough defense through the first 45 minutes of play, proved by the seven combined fouls and one yellow card on the Bulldogs early on.Â
The Bulldogs attempted ten shots to the Norse's four, but with no avail. The game remained scoreless at the half.
The Norse came out of the locker room ready to capitalize on their offense, as Chloe Mills put Northern Kentucky on the scoreboard in the 47
th minute.
Finally, after 18 shots, the Bulldogs tied things up when
Macy Miller found the back of the net in the 69
th minute of play, with assists from
Morgan Kloosterman and
Gretchen Skoglund. Â
In the 84
th minute, Miller teamed up with
Aliya Diagne as the freshman netted her first goal as a Bulldog. Diagne's goal would be good as gold, giving Butler the 2-1 win.
