INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's basketball team will take a trip to Italy from Aug. 10-19. The Bulldogs will play three games while also getting the chance to visit numerous tourist attractions.
The Games
Butler will face the Dutch National Team, the Florence All-Stars and the Vicenza All-Stars. The first game will be played on Monday Aug. 12 in Rome against the Dutch National Team. Game two is set for Wednesday, Aug. 14 against the Florence All-Stars and the final test will come on Friday, August 17 when Butler faces Valbruno Bolzano.
The Sites
BU student-athletes will arrive in Rome on Sunday, Aug. 11 and take a guided tour of the Colosseum that day. That evening, the team will view the Trevi Fountains and the Spanish Steps.
A guided tour of the Vatican is on the schedule for Tuesday morning. The group will then travel by train to Florence to prepare for their contest against the all-stars on Aug. 14.
Gondola rides in the Venice Canals are scheduled for Aug. 17 with the third and final contest slated for that evening.
The Student-Athletes
All 15 student-athletes will be making the trip to Italy. Head Coach
Kurt Godlevske has a full roster this season that includes five seniors, five juniors, three sophomores and two true freshmen.
