Milwaukee Tops Butler in Four Sets

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – The Bulldogs dropped a 3-1 match at Milwaukee on Friday night in game two of the Panther Invitational. Melody Davidson and Anna Logan shared the team lead with 12 kills each.

How It Happened
The Panthers used a 5-0 scoring run in the first set to open up a 19-10 lead. That advantage would hold to the finish line giving Milwaukee the early lead at 1-0 with a 25-16 victory.

Business picked up for Butler in set two with the Bulldogs taking a 19-17 lead, resulting in a Milwaukee timeout. After the stoppage, the Panthers scored on a kill from Jenna Miller and connected again with Jenn Dore finding Kylie Wilks for a point.

Crunch time belonged to Butler however as Brooke Gregory provided head coach Sharon Clark with two big kills to reach set point. Brittany Robinson would push BU over the top moments later with her fourth kill of the night for the game-winner 25-23.

Set three was tight from start to finish, but the Panthers found a way to win giving Milwaukee the 2-1 edge. Butler snapped back with a 7-3 lead in the fourth set, but a 3-0 Milwaukee run would shrink that margin down to just one point. A second Panther run would finish the 'Dawgs in four sets. Milwaukee scored six-straight points to go ahead 21-16. They found the win column moments later at 25-17.

Key Moment
Butler looked to be in good position during set three after a 5-0 scoring run gave them a 10-6 lead. Momentum would swing back to the home team however as Milwaukee posted a 5-0 run of their own to regain the lead at 16-14. The Panthers would never trail again and go ahead 2-1 in the match.
