MILWAUKEE – Butler found the win column against Southeast Missouri State in the final match of the 2019 Panther Invitational (25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-17). Shay Horn led the offense with 14 kills. She was one of three players to reach a double figure kill total.
 
How It Happened
Butler got out to a fast start by scoring the first four points of the match and a 5-0 run moments later would push the score to 12-5. SEMO never recovered, allowing BU to win set one 25-17.
 
The Redhawks flipped the script in set two by jumping out to a 7-2 lead. They avoided the sweep by taking Butler down in the second set 25-21. The turning point was a 5-0 run, pushing the score to 23-18.
 
Set three was much more like set one as Butler enjoyed the early advantage at 9-3. That set the tone the rest of the way moving Butler on top 2-1.
 
BU finished the match strong in the fourth set by scoring five of the last six points. Ziemba had two aces during that stretch and Megan Ramseyer was credited with two kills, including the game-winner.
 
Key Moment
Butler used a 4-0 scoring run to grab a 20-15 lead in the fourth set. That scoring spree would launch them to a 25-17 win and seal the victory.

Butler will host the Bulldog Brawl next weekend with matches lined up against Pacific, Belmont and Loyola Marymount. Friday night will feature BU taking on Pacific at 6 PM. A noon start vs. Belmont will feature free admission on Saturday and that day will end with a 6 PM match vs. Loyola Marymount.
