@ButlerWTennis Dominates Singles at the UIndy Fall Invite

The Butler women's tennis team opened the fall season against the University of Indianapolis, IUPUI and Depauw at the University of Indianapolis Fall Invitational over the weekend.

The Bulldogs competed in three rounds of singles and doubles across the two-day tournament. Butler combined for a 23-10 singles record and a 5-8 mark in doubles.

Results:
On Saturday, the Bulldogs went 10-1 in the first round of singles play, with wins from Logan White, Emily Neal, Lauryn Padgett, Sara Linn, Roxanne Mackenzie, Nina Bertino, Natale Corrigan, Caroline McAuley, Lauren Marx, and Kendal Wilby. The Bulldogs posted a 4-7 second round mark on Saturday, but fnished 9-2 in Sunday's final round. 

Neal went 3-0, going the distance in both games on Saturday to claim the win over IUPUI's Crystal Grubbs (5-7, 6-0, 10-6) and a second victory against UIndy's Anna Novikova (7-5, 2-6, 10-6). She went on to defeat Lily Cameron of Depauw 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday.

Wilby also went 3-0 on the weekend against three Depauw opponents. She defeated Sophie DiBaise (6-0, 6-1) and Kate Stanely (6-3, 6-2) on the first day, and claimed the Sunday win over Lindsay Parks (6-2, 7-5).

In the top flight of singles, White complied a 2-1 record. She defeated Gabrielle Ochalik of IUPUI in dominate fashion, 6-0, 6-1, to start the weekend. White would fall 6-3, 6-1, to Nikol Alekseeva of UIndy on Saturday, but bounced back with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Amanda Showalter of Depauw on Sunday.

In the third through sixth singles flights, seven Bulldogs, Padgett, Linn, Mackenzie, Bertino, Corrigan, McAuley, and Marx, posted 2-1 records, as well.

The Bulldogs pairs of White/Padgett and Mackenzie/Bertino had a 2-1 mark in doubles play. Both pairs defeated IUPUI and Depauw, but fell to UIndy.

Next Up:
The Bulldogs will have a month of training before heading to Western Michigan University on October 11 for a three day tournament.  Butler will close out the fall schedule at the ITA Regionals starting October 17.
