INDIANAPOLIS – Butler will host the 2019 Bulldog Brawl this weekend with Pacific, #19 Illinois, Belmont and LMU visiting Hinkle Fieldhouse. Three matches will be played on Friday and another four are on the schedule for Saturday. All Butler matches will stream on Facebook Live.
Bulldog Bits
- Butler has never faced Pacific, Belmont or Loyola Marymount in volleyball before this weekend.
- Butler went 1-1 vs. West Coast Conference teams last year; they lost 3-0 vs. Pepperdine, but won 3-0 vs. Santa Clara.
- Saturday's 12 PM start vs. Belmont will feature free admission courtesy of ButlerBulldogGear.com.
- Butler is 2-0 against teams in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.

Melody Davidson was named to the 2019 Panther Invitational All-Tournament Team.
- Davidson posted a career-high 12 kills in the four-set match at Milwaukee.
- Butler ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks per set (1.97).

Anna Logan has recorded 1,309 career kills. She needs 12 more to enter the BU all-time top-ten list.
- Butler ranks second in the BIG EAST in digs per set (16.38).

Elizabeth LaBue ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.70).
- LaBue recorded a career-high 29 digs in the match vs. Western Michigan.

Jillian Ziemba led Butler with four service aces vs. Southeast Missouri State.
SCOUTING PACIFIC: The Tigers have won four-straight matches to improve their overall record to 6-3. They won the UNLV Invite by recording victories over Texas Tech (3-1), Idaho (3-2) and host UNLV (3-1). Their winning streak got started with a five-set win over UTEP on the final day of the NMSU Borderland Tournament. Head Coach Greg Gibbons enters his fourth season at the helm of the program. This year's team is led by Riley Patterson and her team-best 107 kills. Patterson is also the team leader in aces with 11.
Kennedy Kaminsky ranks 58th in the NCAA in total blocks (39).
SCOUTING BELMONT: The Bruins are 1-11 in 2019 with their lone win coming over Alabama A&M 3-0. First-year head coach Katelyn Harrison only returns one starter from last year's squad. Over the first 12 matches, Belmont has been led by Halee Van Poppel and Mary Catherine Ball. Van Poppel averages 3.23 kills per set and ranks second on the team with 11 aces. Defensively, BU will need to keep an eye on Kailee Bass and her team-high 44 blocks.
Kailee Bass ranks 42nd in the NCAA in total blocks.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYMOUNT: LMU is 4-5 overall after a 3-1 setback to #2 Nebraska this weekend. The Lions won the first set at Nebraska 33-31, but would come up short to end the weekend 1-2. Rose Booth registered 20 kills vs. the Cornhuskers. She leads the team in that category, averaging 4.0 kills per set. Tess Reid will set up the action and the LMU defensive leader is Mary Shroll with 114 digs.
Rose Booth ranks 45th in the NCAA with 138 kills.
DAVIDSON GETS THE JOB DONE:
Melody Davidson has posted 10+ kills in back-to-back matches for the first time in her young career.
Davidson had one 10-kill match last season. So far in 2019, Davidson has three matches with 10+ kills.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE TRACKER: Anna Logan and
Megan Ramseyer each recorded double-double performances last weekend at the Panther Invitational. Logan posted 17 kills and 19 digs vs. Western Michigan. Her second double-double featured 12 kills and 16 digs at Milwaukee. Ramseyer's lone double-double came at Milwaukee with 37 assists and 10 digs.
NCAA RANKINGS: Butler leads the BIG EAST and ranks 14th in the NCAA in team attacks per set (38.59). They are also first in the league and 15th in the country in team total attacks (1,428).
Anna Logan leads BU with 417 total attacks. That number leads the BIG EAST and ranks 20th in the nation.
2018 BULLDOG BRAWL: Butler went 2-1 last year in the Bulldog Brawl. They opened the weekend with a tough 3-2 loss to Cleveland State, but would post 3-0 wins over Santa Clara and Kent State.
