The Butler women's soccer team fell in a 3-2 decision at Milwaukee after the Panthers pulled out a late goal in the 88
th minute to take the win.
The Bulldogs are now 4-2-0 on the season, with both losses coming on the road against Wisconsin teams.
How It Happened:
The Panthers came out ready to strike, finding the net in the first minute of play as a result of a corner kick. The Panthers would earn nine more corner kick opportunities throughout the match.
However, Milwaukee's lead was short lived, as the Bulldogs answered immediately when
Amanda Kowalski assisted
Anja Savich for a goal in the second minute of play, just 68 seconds after the Panthers scored.
Despite quick starts, the offense on both sides cooled for the remainder of the first half, sending the teams to the locker room tied at 1-1.
Out of the half, the Panthers were the first to regain momentum, taking a 2-1 lead in the 54
th minute, capitalizing off another corner kick set-up.
In the 83
rd minute, Kowalski took advantage of a Bulldog corner kick, netting an unassisted goal, and putting the game at 2-2 with less than 10 minutes to play.
The Panthers strong offense claimed the game-winning goal in the 88
th minute of play, leaving no room for a Bulldogs answer.
Notable Game Stats:
- Kowalski grabbed three points in the match, recording her first goal of 2019 and an assist.
- Savich posted her fourth goal of the season.
- The Bulldogs took nine shots, six of which were on target.
