Butler Athletics is now accepting video submissions of the Star Spangled Banner and Lift Every Voice and Sing to be used during the 2020-21 basketball and volleyball seasons.    
 
Video submissions should adhere to the following guidelines, including a time limitation of one minute and thirty seconds (1:30) per song.  
 
You may choose to submit videos of either or both songs.  If you are submitting videos of both, please record and submit the two videos individually.  Performances of Lift Every Voice and Sing should feature the first verse only. 
 
Selected renditions may also have their audio utilized at athletic facilities that do not feature video boards, including the Sellick Bowl, Bulldog Park, Varsity Field and Butler Softball field. 
 
What to Wear
• Please wear Butler attire or Butler team colors.
• Attire should not feature branding from any other NCAA or professional sports team
• Please do not wear a hat
• If you wear glasses, please make sure to avoid glares on the lenses
 
Filming 
Videos filed on a smartphone should work, but use of other devices is encouraged. 
 
• Use a neutral solid-color background, avoid windows and backlighting
• Stand 4-5 feet away from the camera/phone and shoot the video at eye level
• Please make sure that the camera/phone is still and not moving during filming.  Use of a tripod is encouraged. 
• Videos should be filmed in landscape/horizontal format
• Audio should be high quality 
• Preferred file size is 1920x1080 at 60 frames per second
• Due to the shape of the Hinkle Fieldhouse video board, performers should be in the middle of the frame, with ample space on each side 
• If multiple singers are being used, all performers must be in the center of the frame.
• Files must be MP4 or MOV. 
 
Submitting Your Video
Videos can be emailed to LMartin@butler.edu.   If the file size is large, use of file transfer software such as Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer is encouraged. 
 
The file name should contain both your first and last name. 
 
Videos will be selected using the sole discretion of Butler Athletic Marketing.  Butler reserves the right to reject any video that violates the above guidelines or is otherwise inappropriate.  Commercial advertising or promotion of brands, social media handles, websites or phone numbers is not permitted.
