LEXINGTON, S.C. – Butler won two games on Saturday to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Bulldogs notched a 15-8 win over George Mason in game one and would edge North Carolina A&T in the nightcap 2-1.
Butler faced a 1-0 deficit against George Mason after one inning, but the BU bats would help the 'Dawgs score at least one run in each frame the rest of the way to record a 15-8 win.
Nick Ortega went 3-for-5 from the dish with two runs scored. Multi-hit games also belonged to
Jonah Wichman and
Zach Jarosz. Both Wichman and Jarosz would find the RBI column in the box score in the victory. The team RBI leader was
Brody McGrath with three. He singled to center in the seventh inning to give BU an 11-6 lead.
Nearly half of Butler's runs were scored in the later stages of the game. BU added three runs in the bottom of the seventh and followed up with four in the eighth to seal their second win of 2020.
Joe Graziano got the start on the hill, but the win would go to
John MacCauley. Graziano surrendered four runs over 3.2 innings. He struck out two and walked four. MacCauley would throw the next 2.1 innings for BU, and
Nick Eaton would close the game down. Eaton struck out four batters over the final three innings and would limit George Mason to just two runs.
The third game of the weekend was completely dominated by
Jack Myers on the mound. The junior threw seven full innings in his first start with 14 strikeouts and zero walks. Myers shutout the Aggies over seven frames and only allowed four hits.
Jack Pilcher would come out of the bullpen to get four outs at the end of the game to record his second save of the season.
Butler's two runs came early in the action.

Zach Jarosz in the first. Butler's second run came in the second off a wild pitch.
Butler will end the weekend with an 11 am game against George Mason on Sunday, Feb. 16.
