The Butler women's lacrosse team will host Detroit Mercy on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 3 p.m. at Varsity Field. The Bulldogs (1-0) and Titans (0-2) will meet for the fourth time in program history.
BULLDOG BITS
- The Butler women's lacrosse team set the single-game scoring record while securing a 22-0 win in the season opener against Hanover
- The 22-0 win was also the Bulldogs first shutout and the first season opener win in program history.
- 17 differnt Bulldogs scored in the win and two Dawgs, Lindsey Schreiber and Gabryelle Bodine, recorded hat tricks
- Bodine got a conference nod as she was named to the BIG EAST Athlete of the Week Honor Roll
- Lindsey McShea picked up four ground balls in the win, as many as Hanover had as a team
- The Bulldogs owned 18 of the 22 total draw controls of the game
- The Bulldogs held the Panthers to just three shots, none of which were on goal
- Butler also had a hand in 11 of Hanover's 18 turnovers
- In 2019, the Bulldogs led the BIG EAST in saves per game and were third in the conference in caused turnovers

BULLDOGS SEASON OPENER RECAP
The Bulldogs set the single-game scoring record while securing a 22-0 win in the season opener against Hanover. The win was also the Bulldogs first shutout and the first season opener win in program history.
Ashley Guerra netted what would ultimately be the game-winning goal at 28:38 in the first half.
The Bulldogs went on to score 14 more goals in the first period, followed by seven in the second half. Butler recorded assists on nine of the 22 goals. 17 different Bulldogs scored in the match, two of which,
Lindsey Schreiber and
Gabryelle Bodine, recorded hat tricks.
DETROIT MERCY TITANS
The Titans went 8-10 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Conference in 2019. The Titans advanced to the Southern Conference Tournament, but fell in the first round to (former) No. 3 Furman. Detroit Mercy is coming off recent losses at (former) No. 3 Northwestern and Arizona State.
OLD FOES
Sunday's contest will be the fourth meeting between the two teams, as the Bulldogs and Titans have faced-off in all three seasons of the Bulldogs program history. Detroit Mercy leads the series 3-0. The last meeting between the teams was exactly a year ago, on Feb. 19, 2019, when the Titans won 17-13.Â
The Bulldogs and Titans face five of the same teams this season in Central Michigan, Marquette, Gardner Webb, Presbyterian, and Akron. Detroit Mercy is one of two SOCON teams scheduled for Butler's 2020 season.
SENIOR EXPERIENCE
The 2020 senior class will be the first graduating group to complete a full career in a Butler uniform, bringing a complete four years of experience to this season's roster.
UP NEXT
Butler will hit the road for a three-game swing, facing Central Michigan, Kent State and Akron, starting Sunday, Feb. 23 and concluding Sunday, March 1.
