@ButlerWLacrosse’s Hot Start Halted at Central Michigan

The Butler women's lacrosse team faced their first setback of the season, falling 14-2 to Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The Bulldogs move to 2-1 on the year as the Chippewas even out to 1-1.

Central Michigan's Shannon Doyle opened the game with a hat trick for the Chippewas, making it 3-0 in the first eight minutes of play. Doyle's third goal would ultimately prove to be the game winner. The Bulldogs took 

After spending a majority of the first half on defense, Ashley Guerra got the Butler offense going, netting a goal with 12:12 left in the period, bringing the score to 4-1.

The Chippewas would score four more times before half, spreading the gap to 8-1 to start the second period. The Bulldogs never quite found their offensive rhythm, leaving six more goals by Central Michigan unanswered.

Layla Tattersfield added one goal for Butler with less than a minute remaining. Doyle and two other Chippewas recorded hat tricks in the game. Bulldog's goalie Amanda Rumsey grabbed nine saves and three different Bulldogs players had two ground balls a piece.

The Bulldogs will continue their three-game road swing with a Friday, Feb. 28 contest at Kent State.
