EVANSVILLE – The Purple Aces scored four runs over the first two innings and held BU out of the hit column until the seventh inning to collect a 4-1 home win over the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. The setback moves BU to 6-2 on the year.
Shane Gray had a great day on the mound for Evansville. He tossed seven full innings and struck out seven Bulldogs. The save would go to Jace Kressin (1).
Gray got run support from Indiana Stanley and Craig Shepherd early in this one. Stanley singled through the left side in the first two score two runs and Shepherd's two-RBI single back up the middle of the diamond would give the Purple Aces a 4-0 lead.
Butler broke up the no-hitter in the seventh with a single from
Brody McGrath.
Kollyn All would break-up the shutout moments later with a single to left-center that scored
Jacob Margroff.
Jack Myers was charged with the loss on Saturday (2-1). He threw five innings, striking out four.
Jon Vore would strike out two batters in the sixth and the final two innings belonged to
John MacCauley.
Butler will return to Bosse Field tomorrow for the getaway game in the series. The two team are slated for a noon start.
