Solid Second Half Lifts @ButlerWLacrosse Over Akron


The Butler women's lacrosse team moved to 4-1 on the year after posting a 14-7 win over Akron (0-5) on Sunday, March 1 in Akron, Ohio. The victory is a milestone for the program, setting a new season win record for the Bulldogs.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs and Zips met for the first time in Akron's first season of the women's lacrosse program. Butler struck first, as Holly Hall put the Bulldogs up 1-0 four minutes into the contest. The Zips answered with a man-down goal to tie the game at 18:37 in the first.

A few minutes later, the Bulldogs found their groove, as Hall and Sydney Pattison scored back-to-back goals just 15 seconds part. Akron responded with a goal of their own in the same minute, putting the score back within one at 3-2. However, the Zips would never get any closer than that for the remainder of the game.

The Bulldogs went on to net four more goals in the half to the Zips three, entering the locker room leading 7-5. The second half was all Butler; the team scored seven more goals in the next period and limited the Zips to two.

Hall, Gabryelle Bodine and Kalley Attaway all recorded hat tricks in the win. Bodine moves to 12 goals on the season, which leads the team.

The Bulldogs will have a week to prepare to host Presbyterian on Saturday, March 7. First draw is set for 12 p.m. at Varsity Field.
